The Quinlan family of Mokena, Illinois held their fourth annual fundraiser to support Dup15q Alliance and honor their son, Gavin, on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Trio Bar in Palos Heights, Illinois. In the past four years, the Quinlans have raised over $40,000 to help provide support and research for chromosome 15q duplication syndrome. Gavin was diagnosed with this rare genetic disorder in 2009, when he was 5 years old,and has made many strides since then. He continues every day to inspire all those who know him to be the best they can be and to see beauty in everything.
Dup15q Alliance provides the Quinlans, and other dup15q families, with the resources they need to further their children's progress. The Alliance connects families with specialists who treat dup15q children, other dup15q families and resources to help improve quality of life for those with dup15q. We currently have six clinics around the country specializing in dup15q and more are in the works, thanks to the generosity of families such as the Quinlans.
