Sunshine Committee

The Sunshine Committee is made up of Parents, Extended Family Members, Friends, and Professionals.  The Dup15q Alliance is so thankful for all of our volunteers who bring a little sunshine to the lives of our dupers! Each committee members is responsible for sending out birthday cards member of the Alliance with dup15q syndrome. You will be asked to send cards several times a year.

Transitional Living Committee

The Transitional Living Committee is made up of parents whose children have already transitioned or those who have knowledge in transtioning into adulthood. Their goal is to gain a better understanding of the various Transition aspects as they are anticipated and/or experienced by Dupers and their Families. Their intention is to identify the aspects that are most critical and, through the work of the Transitional Living Committee, develop the resources and strategies which will help families achieve successful outcomes.

The conference committee works together to make decisions about the conference such as: location, family dinner, group outing or activity, speakers, topics to cover in sessions, vendors to attend, shirt design and more. They work to acquire sponsorships to cover costs and donations for the on-site raffle. They meet monthly on a conference call to go over updates and share new information with the group

The Believe Committee is a team of volunteers that assist in organizing ideas & initiatives, raising awareness and providing family support, fundraising and so much more. We are looking for various skill sets such as marketing, web design, graphic design, journalistic, school/parent/service advocates, admin and more to join The Believe Committee.

The Thank you Comittee is made up of Parents, Extended Family Members, Friends, and Professionals. Each committee member is responsible for sending out thank you cards to our supporters. You will be asked to send cards several times a year.

The Remembrance Committee is made up of Parents, Extended Family Members and Friends.  Committee members send notes and photo frame after a Dup15q Alliance member passing and also sends out remembrance cards each year those who lost a duper.

International Committee:

The mission of the International Committee is to assist the Dup15q Alliance in International needs for our families all over the globe, helping to increase awareness with a strong international voice.

Parent Advocate Leaders Committee (Pals)

As a parent, receiving a diagnosis for your child that is life-changing will shake you to your core. But we are not alone! Having a safe place to explore feelings of “this is not the way it’s supposed to be” is what PALS is all about. Sharing the emotional process that often comes a diagnosis of Dup15q Syndrome with someone who has also experienced these feelings, can be helpful to many families. 

 

Peer support is a process in which reciprocal support is facilitated by one trained individual who shares his/her common life experience with another individual. This supportive, fluid process aims to enable mutual empowerment and a sense of connection.

A State Representative is committed to initiating, coordinating or overseeing at least 1 informal regional gathering each year. Recruit one more person to assist in overseeing the regional gatherings. Anyone can host a state/regional gathering. We ask the State Rep ensures a minimum of 1 gathering is hosted per year.  State Representatives should have some knowledge of or access to state specific resources such as Medical Assistance, SSI, State School Resources. Dup15q Alliance will provide links to state resources.
